Art of the Unfinished
I’ve had a collection of very fine technical drawing pens & coloured inks in my possession for many, many years and wasn’t sure what to do with them until the other day. These pictures started life as watercolours, then I managed to get one of theses pens to work, now I can’t seem to stop drawing over everything . . . I can’t seem to make my mind up as to how they should be completed yet.
Arches Everywhere
Repeating myself
I’ve been playing around with this doodle that I drew on a card a few years ago to see if it works as a repeat pattern.
I’d love to know what you think.
Thank you for looking.
An idea in motion
Back last year I was asked by local artist/maker Louise Bush if I would make a toy for some local children at Christmas and of course I said yes, but I hadn’t really made toys before and wasn’t sure where to start. Wondering what I could make I came up with some drawings, notice there are no tricky limbs to sew. Not long after I heard there were some issues with health & safety so I thought that was the end of that.
Christmas was coming and there had been a call out on the Portsmouth Creative Movement’s Facebook page to decorate a Christmas tree in Albert Road so I thought why not have a go?
Unfortunately I missed the dates everyone went down to decorate due to family commitments but I got there eventually.
During January I again was drawn to this idea and began the process if seeing my doodle could be transformed into a product. My finished creation, which I have named Betty has been stuffed with lots of cut up fabric scraps which seem to take forever to cut & always seemed to need just a bit more stuffing.
I’m now planning on making a Barry so that Betty won’t get lonely.
This has got me wondering – how do you go about creating & making?
Welcome 2013
A gentle stroll down to the sea is just what is needed to get the new year started. Happy 2013 to one and all.
